All-Party Parliamentary Group on Local Democracy
We are eager to re-establish the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Local Democracy with the new government after the general election.
The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Local Democracy is a collective of members from both the House of Commons and the House of Lords who share a common interest in parish and town councils. Established in the early 2000s, the group's objectives include promoting the benefits of first-tier local authorities, informing policy decisions affecting these authorities, and fostering debate on community governance models.
The APPG organises meetings with government ministers and others on various issues, such as devolution, local government finance, housing and planning, and other issues relevant to parish and town councils.
We provide secretariat support to the APPG, facilitating its activities and helping coordinate its meetings and events. This structure allows the APPG to effectively engage with relevant organisations and experts to drive its mission forward.
