NALC publishes its quarterly activity report
We have published our quarterly activity report covering July to September 2024.
The quarterly activity report details progress in delivering our strategic plan, including information on critical internal issues, parliamentary and government affairs work, events, finances, media coverage, publications and legal advice. It features updates from our chief executive and the policy and communications, member services, and finance and administration teams.
This quarter's report summarises the organisation's strategic direction and significant milestones during the reporting period. Key highlights include:
- Our joint statement with the Society of Local Council Clerks following the first reading in parliament of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill, also known as Martyn's Law, welcomed the standard tier threshold increasing from 100 to 200, which we lobbied for.
- Our response to the government's consultation on proposed reforms to the National Planning Policy Framework and other changes to the planning system.
- We reviewed and published a full suite of HR policies and how-to guides along with an explainer video featuring WorkNest, which provides more information and explanation on the changes.
- We completed a review of the Local Council Award Scheme criteria with input from committees, parish and town councils, county associations, and accreditation panel members.
- County associations have been holding impressive Annual General Meetings and conferences, which we've attended and spoken at to better understand our member's needs.
The subsequent report covers October to December 2024 and will be published in the new year.
