NALC and SLCC leadership meet to strengthen collaborative efforts

The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) and the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC) met to strengthen collaborative efforts.

NALC chair, Cllr Keith Stevens, and SLCC chair, Adam Keppel-Green, focused on deepening collaboration to support local (parish and town) councils, clerks and councillors, while also enhancing the sector’s influence with government and principal authorities.

A key theme was the role of local councils in promoting community safety and cohesion. This comes considering the government’s commitment to introducing Martyn’s Law, aimed at improving public safety.

Additionally, the meeting addressed ongoing workstreams under the joint Improvement and Development Board (IDB). Key areas of focus include the sector’s role in addressing climate change and advancing nature recovery efforts.

In a further sign of the strengthened partnership, NALC and SLCC will co-sponsor a fringe event at the Local Government Association (LGA) conference on 23 October, titled “Working together to build stronger communities”. Attendees are encouraged to participate in what promises to be a pivotal discussion on enhancing community resilience and collaboration.
