NALC launches a national network for the smallest local councils

The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) introduced a new national network for the smallest local (parish and town) councils.

The National Network: Micro Councils aims to provide a unified voice for local councils with annual budgeted precepts or turnovers of £10,000 or less.

NALC's Smaller Councils Committee agreed on the network at its meeting on 16 April 2024. It proposed that the network act as a sounding board for issues specific to the smallest local council and would report to the committee.

The network will follow a model similar to that of the six other national networks of NALC. It will hold quarterly meetings, providing a platform to address issues pertinent to this unique group.
